I figured out I was trans in college, probably some time in 2007, due to a friend coming out (she was the only openly trans person at the whole college), plus some online searches that led me to a forum that no longer exists (it got eaten by Russian bots).

I was really lucky in that my friends group in college turned out to mostly be non-binary eggs who have since hatched. I came out to most of them fairly quickly, and they were very accepting, but it was a long time before I met any non-binary people who weren't part of that group.

And the idea that I'd ever have access to hormone therapy seemed impossible. After all, my trans woman friend in college wasn't allowed hormones until she'd had a year-long "real-life trial" and other things that just weren't plausible for me. Which left me very depressed, since I'd wanted to get rid of my testosterone (and testicles) since puberty started.

Also, wait, you live in Maryland, too? Now I'm wondering if I know you in person: I've never actually known where you found my DW.
